What is O3 (one-on-ones)?
Managers connect with their subordinates to discuss their expectations and their career plans. Keeping the expectations in mind, people managers can chart out training plans or anything else necessary for the growth of the employee. The conversation is completely private.
However, the discussion is documented. So, you or anyone who needs it, can refer to it. At the end of the year, you can know how far you have come since you began. The O3 Process
The plan for O3s begins at the start of the year (January). Subordinates and their managers talk amongst themselves and decide the frequency of their discussion. It is recommended to speak every week, but employees are free to manage however they like. Twice a month, once a week, or any frequency they feel comfortable with.
